7-day tour – 6 people

An authentic immersion into Albanian life, with direct contact with two families from Northern Albania sincere, welcoming, and deeply rooted in their traditions

“If the goal is to discover nature, culture, living traditions, local people, and cuisine up close, then staying with farming families is the ideal form of an active holiday. Far from mass tourism, contact with locals is not an exotic experience, but a heartfelt encounter. And even if the hosts do not perfectly master the visitor’s language, everyone can be sure that communication happens with just a few words… because it is the heart that speaks.”
Marianne Graf

Day 1 – Airport to Rubik

After your arrival at the airport, we depart for Rubik. To get into the spirit of the days ahead, we start by discovering the essentials about the region and its people. We visit the tourist information office and the Museum of the North: mythology, local history, rural life, Mirdita traditions, and valuable ethnographic artifacts.

Then we head toward a northern farming village. The vehicle takes us to Rrëshen, then along an isolated mountain road to Gjegjan – Gojan, and finally to Shkozë.
Check-in at Lika Guesthouse.

Here, we find everything we seek in rural life: a small barn, a mill where we grind corn ourselves, and a grandmother who introduces us to traditional tasks — making flihand-spinning wool, and more.

The Lika family tailors the program to our interests, allowing us to fully enjoy the untouched nature and this magical place.

If the season allows, we venture into the forest to pick berries and mushrooms.
Visit local shepherds and livestock farmers, meditate in the ancient magical cave, and for the more adventurous: hike higher up the mountain for breathtaking panoramas.

Return to the guesthouse to enjoy a delicious traditional dinner.

Day 4 – Morning Departure

Even though we’d love to stay longer, a vehicle picks us up in the morning, and we descend toward southern Mirdita, cross the fascinating Fan Valley, return to Rrëshen, and after 15 km, reach Malaj.
Check-in at Doda Guest House and meet the locals..

Amid gentle hills, it’s a true haven of peace: vineyards, vegetable garden, wine press, and a pond (perfect in summer and autumn).
We are invited to harvest and cook vegetables.
Meals prepared with ingredients from the estate are a true delight.

After a hearty breakfast, we set off on a hike to several viewpoints offering 360° panoramas.
After a tasty lunch, relax in the shade of the fruit trees or beside the old stone kulla. kulla en pierre.

For those who want volleyball, football, or other regional games.
In the evening, enjoy a relaxing walk up to the church, followed by a tasting of our house-made wine — the perfect way to end the day with a peaceful night

Day 7 – Departure in the morning

Last day. And we can confirm the title of the journey:
Come as visitors, leave as friends!

We have discovered places where simplicity reveals greatness, where the essential is felt with all the senses.
Return to Rubik, visit to the Agro Center to buy beautiful artisanal and local products.
After a final snack, head towards Tirana.

Thank you for this deeply moving experience.
